Erawan museum, Thailand (02.Oct.2013)

(300 bahts),
150 baht

HOW TO GO:
Get on BTS to 'Bearing', it took us about 30 minutes from 'Nana' to 'Bearing' (well, google a map if you are not familiar about the stations). Then take a taxi at 'Bearing' station for about 10 minutes & 60-80 bahts to Erawan Museum.

Liked:
I find it is unique about the one big gigantic 3 head elephant setting on the museum roof top. Actually, the upper stairs we visited in the museum is the inside of the elephant,so, it's quite interesting once you learn how they built this museum.

Nice decoration inside of the museum. Give it a close look, many spoons and bowls are used to shape the ears and nose,of the elephant, etc.,in the museum, that's unique and takes a lot of work I'd assume. The museum roof top has European church roof feeling. The garden surrounds the museum including different Thai sculptures and cute lotus ponds is nice to take a stroll around.

By the way, I saw a girl trying to pick up the metal made elephant on the floor using her pinky finger after she sent a prayer. She succeed at her 3rd try. I guess it is a kind of approval to say her wish will be granted. I do not know how heavy the elephant is as I did not try.... Anyway, it is kind of interesting.

Disliked: the admission fee is 300 bahts for foreigner. the museum is actually small that I feel the fee should be half of its price to call it fair. Also, it's not that old museum (built in 199x, but took about 10 years to finish), it's kind of private built lacking some significant historical meaning. Nevertheless, I still like it. But my husband doesn't find it that good. I will leave you to decide after your visit. ;)
