Will I find a 2nd place like this? Maeklong train market, Thailand.

(可以點上面的影片,看我的動態紀錄^^)

泰國, Maeklong Railway Market

WHAT a UNIQUE EXPERIENCE to witness the Train Goes Through the small Traditional Market, interesting to see how the vendors put away their meat/fish tables and sun umbrellas when the announcement of upcoming train was broadcasted (well, in Thai language only). The vegetables on the ground are not moved and remains next to the rail track edge! So, it looks like the train is running over those vegetables. I was only a few inches away from the train when it passed by. Is any other place in the world shows that such scene? XD

HOW to VISIT, COST, Travel Time: take BTS to Victory Monument Station, get out from Exit 4 and walk straight only 1-2 mins, you will find the Mini Van Bus Station at left hand side where sells ticket to Maeklong for 70 baht/person. The mini van ride is a little over 1 hour. The mini van will be departed when they collect enough people. So, if you're lucky, you will get on the bus in just a few minutes when you get your ticket or you may need to wait a little while (but should not wait over 20-30 mins I think).

TIPs: Check train schedule. Find a good spot. Be ready to catch the moment!! During the time of my visit, we missed 11:30 a.m. train because the mini van driver stopped and lined up for propane gas pump on the way to Maeklong. When arrived Maeklong, I asked a local person and was advised to wait for 2:30 p.m. train. So we went for a lunch, looked around, and found a small vendor to eat there & waited for 2:30 p.m. train. BUT the train came earlier at 1:54 p.m.! Luckily, I told my husband I was going to survey the best location first before the train came so I was able to catch its coming and recorded the video at a good spot. My husband who waited me to return, stayed at the small restaurant, was kind of stuck behind a bunch of tourists and could not catch the very 1st moment the train just arrived.

What else to SEE: while waiting for the train, we walked around the market to see Thailand specific products & tried some yummy local street snacks: sweet treat such as wonton-like a mouthful bite wrap but instead of meat inside, it's coconut mixed fried garlic & sugar; crispy egg roll cookies; some fruits; POPULAR & Delicious Thailand 'Kuay Jub'- Thailand intestine noodle soup that is soy sauce-like flavored soup with egg, intestines, rice noodles, fried tofu, etc. And then, of course, we had our Thailand lunch in the market. During the lunch, there're 2 guys (random street performers?) playing guitar and singing across the small restaurant, a little entertainment added while waiting (we gave some tips to them).

REMINDER: sweat a lot SO STAY HYDRATED! it's usually hot in Thailand. we did NOT find any air-conditioned restaurant around the Maeklong market. The only place that has air condition is the 7-11. So, remember to drink water. :) There is a pay toilet in the market (5 baht) so don't panic if you feel like to go.

AFTER the 'train show': if you visit at the weekend like us, you could take a Tuk-Tuk car to Amphawa floating market for the weekend shopping (about 15 mins away and about 150 baht for a ride).
