BKK, Chao Phraya river, China Town, Reclining Budda, Asiatique

Today, we chose river boat as the main transportation tool!
Chao Phraya River boat took us to China Town, Reclining Buddha, and lastly Asiatique!

CHINA Town:
Gosh! I just love it! It's so interesting to explore the food, the people and the buildings.  We visited in the afternoon and it's good. BUT, you may find even many more Chinese restaurants in operation at nights. Besides eating, I had a good shopping here for beautiful hair accessories, jewelry stands (at retailer price :D), and some Chinese dried fruits/preserved fruits.

RECLINING BUDDHA (Wat Pho):
It took us about 20-30 minutes walking from Tha Tien pier to Wat Pho. Quite a little walk.
So, be prepared. Otherwise, you could find a Tuk-Tuk to save your energy (but you might miss some street interesting facts).

I think we paid 150 baht for admission.
I was here a long time ago but still feel stunning at re-visit. The reclining Buddha is so beautiful, peaceful, and tranquil. Like all temples, the sculptures in the area draw my attentions.

BTW, the gorgeous Grand Palace is nearby.
If you have more time you should definitely visit it (if you had not yet visited it). The admission fee is 350 bahts.

ASIATIQUE:
This is the relatively new shopping market in Bangkok.
I bought some cute shorts and my husband shopped quite a few T-shirts. Not brand name but in good quality with a beautiful price. ;)

There are many clothes shops and restaurants here. It's spacious and easy to walk around. You could visit Asiatique official web page for more information. http://www.asiatiquethailand.com/index.php/th

CHAO PHARAYA RIVER:
http://www.chaophrayaexpressboat.com/en/tourist/
It's the major river in Thailand. The water transportation carries local people to work from here to there.
As a tourists, I of course want to take advantage of its convenience (many major tourist spots are around the pier stations) and to try something I don't get to experience back to my home town.

How to go:

We left our hotel to take BTS and got off at Saphan Taksin Station for Sathorn Pier to buy Chao Phraya express boat ticket.

TICKET price & Info:
Tourist one day pass: tourist boats, fix boat schedule as shown on the booklet given together when purchase your ticket. There is usually a tour guide briefs the river history & popular attractions on boat. We chose to buy one day tourist pass because it is unlimited use for a day at 150 baht and we already planned the whole day to visit different places using the boat. (we could have visited more places if we left hotel earlier, :P) Please visit Chao Phraya Tourist Boat official web page to find all info. you may need.

Alternatively, you could just hop on the 'regular commuter boats' and pay as you go. The regular commuter boat has a different look from tourist boat, if you buy tourist boat and get on regular boat, you will still be asked to pay. Regular commuter boat is very cheap but you have to study your own about all connection (different color flags for different routes). It could be fun though! ;)

Reminder:
Ha`, again, PLAN your trip and Schedule your time well. Be sure to read the tourist boat schedule for boarding in time (you will see it in booklet you are given when purchase) and plan how much you will spend at a place and consider your walking time back to pier. We were way too relaxed and found ourselves just missed a tourist boat when we got the pier and had to wait for next. DON'T be like us! OR should I comfort myself that we were much earlier in advance waiting for the boat, just be sure we will catch the boat? XD

Take a break, Travel is FUN! :)
